I am an international student from Japan at San Diego State University. I am a senior student, and majoring in Hospitality and Tourism Management. In this website, you can see things I value when it comes to leadership. In many classes, I have taken at SDSU, we talked about Koraidscope, and it demonstrates necessary skills for leaders to have. I know that all of them are very crucial; however, I believe that one of the most important leadership skills is interpersonal communication. It falls under the People Savvy in the Koraidscope. All great leaders I have met had great relationship with co-workers, other leaders, and their employees. It is important for a leader to be known by those who the leader wants to lead, and also the leader knows them in personal level. Communicating with them daily allows a leader to build trust. I strongly believe without building trust we are not able to have engaged relationship, and there is no successful leader if he or she does not have engaged relationship with others. There are many other important skills in order to be a great leader such as to walk the talk, share visions, give effective coaching and training and more. However, communicating is the bottom line and without communication, nothing can be built on it.

Therefore, I would like to focus on improving my interpersonal communication skill most and be a leader who knows how to communicate effectively and importance of communicating. It take a lot of patient because building trust by communicating can not be done one day. It is a long-term process and takes time. Thus, my goal is to be a patient, well-communicating leader.
