In this blog, I have talked about leadership skills and types including books and articles that related to leadership by my point of view. By outputting what I learned in class here, I could truly understand each theory, and give myself f\good amount of time to think about those theories. I learned that some of theories, for example, the Great Man theory, are out dated; however, there are still leaders who carry the out dated theory. In Japan, for instance, we have an emperor, and only male who was born in the family can possibly the next emperor. Another thing I learned about leadership was that when we describe one leader, most like we use multiple theories. That shows that there is no one right or wrong theory. Each leadership style can benefit to organizations and employees depending on situations.

I also found that I tended to like the theories or leadership style that fit the images of my ideal leaders. Therefor, I caught myself being bias some times. I learned to be open to things that I do not agree or new to me. After learning many different types of leadership theories and posting about them, I become a person who can distinguish leadership style one from other. When I was watching the movie which I had had watched before, each character looked so different because I was thinking which leadership style each character had. It was interesting to see which leadership style was effective and which one was not, even if I knew it was in a movie. Moreover, especially at work, I started observing and trying to categorize leaders around me. At my work, my manager is absolutely people-oriented and my supervisor is task-oriented. Because of the extreme difference between leaders at my work, I sometime see the situations when the supervisor disagrees with him or his decision. However, I think this difference gives the organization positive tension and unique harmony. I considered myself as a people-oriented; thus, I understand the manager a lot, but at the same time I need to have a leader like my supervisor above me. Another lesson learned for me was that different types of leaders could stimulate each other and make a positive results.
